CBS Evening News-”They don’t owe us. We owe them.”

The CBS Evening News spent time and money producing a story on this reunion, focusing on liberator Carrol Walsh and survivor Fred Spiegel. I had contacted them back in March 2007 so we pretty much committed to CBS getting an exclusive on this story, having the promise and assurances that it would definitely run. Once Veteran’s Day 2007 came and went, however, it was clear that the story had fallen by the wayside… It’s a shame because Tracy Smith did a decent story, though the importance of our school project in bringing survivors and liberators together was not covered.
